Sheryl Crow performs 1994's iconic hit 'All I Wanna Do', live at the Grammys. Introduction by host Paul Reiser. Clips continues to Liz Phair and Adam Sandler presenting the Best New Artist, and an interesting Artist acceptance speech.  Crow's first hit, "All I Wanna Do" was her breakthrough track, reaching #2 in America on October 8, 1994, 14 months after the album was released. In an unexpected moment at the 40th Grammys, Aretha Franklin performs Luciano Pavarotti's hit, Nessun Dorma, aria from Puccini's opera "Turandot" with choir and orchestra, when Pavarotti is unable to attend as scheduled and perform his signature song. Aretha's incredible performance gets a standing ovation. Then Aretha and Sting present the Legends Award on behalf of Pavarotti in the second segment. Introduction by Sting.     Luciano Pavarotti's rendition of Giacomo Puccini's aria, "Nessun Dorma" from the opera "Turandot", was the theme song of the BBC coverage of the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy. Written by Paul Simon. Grammy winner for Best Performance by Contemporary Pop Vocal Group or Duo, the song won the 1968 Record of the Year (post soon). The top award was first given out in 1959, and "Mrs. Robinson" was the first Record of the Year with ties to rock music [Songfacts]. Introduction from Don Rickles and Tiny Tim.  According to Art Garfunkel, this song may never have been recorded had it not been for The Graduate director Mike Nichols, who asked the duo for songs for his film [from Songfacts].
